Yellowstone Pharmacy is a Medicare Certified Diabetes Self-Management Education program through AADE-Accreditation!!!
Yellowstone Pharmacy was recently named an accredited diabetes education program by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), a National Accredited Organization (NAO), certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This will allow the people with diabetes in and around Rosebud County increased access to high quality diabetes education services.
Diabetes education is a collaborative process through which people with or at risk for diabetes gain the knowledge and skills needed to modify behavior and successfully self-manage the disease and its related conditions. The program is comprehensive and taught by one of our pharmacists/diabetes educators who has extensive training.
Yellowstone Pharmacy, located at 1025 Main Street, will be offering diabetes education classes on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.
“These classes are interactive, collaborative, and FUN! I love to help patients feel empowered to change their behaviors, which ultimately leads to better diabetes control. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2011 at the age 25. So I get it! Managing diabetes is complex and exhausting, so I also like having the opportunity to learn from participants in class. It truly takes the support of a village sometimes, and I’m happy to be able to bring this program to our community.” -Leanna Schwend, Program Coordinator and Instructor.
